So very glad you could stop by! This website was developed in honor of the 150th anniversary of Wisconsin's involvement in the American Civil War. Here you will find the most comprehensive and accurate survey of Wisconsin Civil War Memorials anywhere on the Internet. Wisconsin Civil War Memorials is an auxiliary to Wisconsin Historical Markers, my journey to visit and photograph the 537 Wisconsin Historical Markers.

How to Use the Website:

Monuments are grouped by county. If a site has been visited, there is a link that includes photographs, an address, Longitude/ Latitude coordinates, and any other information I've been able to gather regarding the history of the monument. If the site has not yet been visited, it is listed, but there is no link.

Ongoing Research / Updates:

My search for Wisconsin's Civil War Monuments is not completed. I'm working from the State database analysis. This list appears to have every single war memorial / monument / marker in Wisconsin. It is identified as "Information from a database the Post-Crescent obtained from the state Department of Veterans Affairs." It includes the monument name, address and city. It does not include the county (although a quick perusal indicates it is in alphabetical order by county). Even so, this list is just awesome!!!

I'm still working to differentiate the Civil War sites from the others on the list. As updates are added, I'll post on my Wisconsin Historical Markers Facebook page.
